Stupid Criminal Report

Carla told us that a man robbed the Hess Station recently. He filled his trunk up with beer and cigarettes and when he slammed the trunk his license tag fell off and he apparently was too busy to notice. The police ran the tag number and went to his house but his wife told them he wasn't home. Don't know if they've caught up with him yet but I would suspect it won't be long...

This information and a whole lot more is what you miss out on when you don't attend the LAPS meetings. Don't be left wondering what is going on in your neighborhood - come to the next meeting on Monday April 26th, 6:30 p.m. at the Lake Shore Women's Club. We will have a guest speaker from Metro Crime Prevention.

  1. "Resident Community News" (which by the way does not want to include Laske Shore) July edition features the renovation of the Venetia Gateway. In the article it specifies that Michael Corrigan was insturmental in accomplishig this renovation. The truth be known, if it had not been for Lake Shore's pursuit of the renovation of "it's" arches, Venetia residents would not have had this accomplished. The article gives credit to Michael Corrigan for finding the funds to accomplish their renovations and that the renovations were bolstered by the contributions of the Venetia residents for painting their structures. GIVE ME A BREAK! More than half of the construction of our renovations were due to residential monetary contributions. The painting amounted to a couple hundred dollars which I"m sure their residents can afford, which is all their residents paid for., You should all pat yoruseves on the back for restoring and designating a landmark through sheer determination. After all, that is the trademark of the Lake Shore resident. I am very proud of all of you and I want to thank you all for your perseverance.

  2. Let's not be negative about our neighbors in Venetia! I read the article and it clearly stated that they got the idea from Lake Shore's hard work. Imitation is the soncerest form of flattery. The residents of Venetia shop in our businesses and pay taxes, just like we do.

  3. I think Carla was mostly just giving us kudos for being such an independent "can-do" community. And we are!

  4. Yes, it came off negative because this paricular publication seems to be so biased. We have had to beg them to publish anything we bring to them as news and they will not consider having Lake Shore as part of the Murray Hill, Avondale, Ortega, Venetia community. As you stated, they are our neighbors. (but not part of our community?) I do not think some people realize what sort of hoops have to be jumped through to get anything alloted for this area.
