  3. Someone, Please clean up the signs on the telephone poles from the luminary! They are beginning to look ratty, and don't add to the ambiance of the neighborhood.

and I think if we add Light house electrical to that ^^ list above of businesses ^^ we are well on our way to forming a viable merchants association to complement the Marina Mile group to help us keep working on improving our open spaces and sprucing up the swing sets on Shelby! perfect and ripe for a community garden!! I was looking on google and wiki - we are in LakeShore right? I hope so! ADD Golden Hammer Construction on Urban Rd to that list of businesses that need to come out of hiding and pony up!

  9. Yeah the bBbusRraces ARE crazy on Bayview! the speed humps have helped two busy streets but I wonder what the city will do to fix the hidden stop sign at Manchester ??
At least One kid has been struck crossing on his bike that I know of .. .but he didnot lose his life.. carpoolers, Delivery drivers go the wrong way up Bayview often. loaded school buses do also!
and as stated by the city :
the intersection geometry has been in place for so long that the public would not be served by such the expense of simply adjusting or correcting the signage!
    baffling!
Drunk drivers have knockedout palm trees and ricocheted off these telephone poles between the Brooks, Hills, Rickers, Stanleys, Woodeds and the Crofts for flying in and out of this double school zone for years.

  10. It becomes apparent that there are still so many issues to address. This is the reason this blog and LAPS specifically is important. I realize time is an issue with everyone and getting involved and being active is really a commitment. Please join us in atleast voicing your opinions, thoughts, and ideas. I can assure you, all ideas are considered and listened to thoughtfully. Ask anyone who has approached us with their concerns. We truly try to improve the quality of your life in this neighborhood. I take great pride in the fact that all concerns are addressed and handled to the best of my abilities. Whatever you consider to be important for your specific situation, please let us know. It can not hurt to ask for some help or even information.

  11. Please make sure your cars and homes are locked. Recent reports of pillaging and plundering through cars in the Sunderland and Birkenhead areas.

  12. Every month we report all of our streetpole light outtages (usually 20 or more!) from Snug Harbor, Chucks Boatyard, Criswell Park, Radio Lane, south and east to include the surrounds of the Cedar River Club, Marina Mile and Roosevelt Mall area around Chamblin. We are growing and NEED more block watchers, folks. Even if unable to volunteer, please leave a light on and come meet a neighbor at LSWC January 24! THEIVERY HAS NO HOME HERE!

  16. Drove by the sight tonight and I was quite surprised to see teenagers on their bicycles stopping at the memorial left on Lake Shore. Tends to renew your faith in humanity.

  17. What are the official boundaries of Lakeshore? Not sure if I am considered part of the LAPS neighborhood or not.

    ReplyDelete
  18. There seems to be ambiquity as to exactly where Lake Shore's "territory" is but here is the main areas we are concentrating our efforts: the river is our main border, sort of a peninuslar including Lake Shore Blvd. & Roosevelt Blvd. up to Lake Side Park (which on original plats was called Lake Shore) crossing over Blanding down Lake Shore to Shirley Ave. and ending with the intersection of Park St. & Blanding. We welcome any surrounding areas to attend our meetings and offer any suggestions that would benefit all of this general area. LAPS has just adopted-the-highway from Birkenhead to Alpha on both sides of Cassat Avenue as well as our existing adopt-a-highway site at Lake Shore & Roosevelt (the half bridge).

  19. We had a great meeting this week that was lead by a presentation by Cheryl Abbott from St. Johns River Water Management Division. She gave a presentation on water wise landscaping and sent us home with a great deal of very useful information. Thank you Cheryl!

  20. There is a home at the corner of Jersey and Cambridge that has an awesome yard always in bloom with little or no turf maintenance 8] Fortunately, we have a lot to work with along Blanding Blvd from Park St. to Hyde Park Rd.

  24. I too realize this was a problem and it has been on my "to-do" list but have other obligations but it did not go unnoticed. I appreciate the fact that you atleast noticed and felt compelled to say something. My wish is that we had more people who were willing to help out for all aspects of our activities. Thank you for your continued interest.
